Spyderco UK Penknife Lightweight Black SLIPIT/Drop Point-Pl
The concept of SLIPIT folding knives started with Spydercos C94 UK Penknife folder. The knife was designed exclusively for use in the United Kingdom where newly imposed legal restrictions forbade carrying folding knives with locking blades. That first model jump-started a trend that has grown into a line of folders Spyderco calls SLIPITS. We define a SLIPIT as a non-locking, one-hand open, clip-carry folder. The concept continues gaining momentum so Spyderco expanded the SLIPIT line adding folders in varying sizes, steels and handles including a new lightweight version. The C94 UK Penknife Lightweight has a FRN or fiberglass reinforced nylon molded handle, resistant to warping and fading. The blade is held in the open position while cutting by a notched-joint at the knifes pivot. When closing the blade, the notch produces resistance functionally similar to traditional slip-joint penknife. For heightened control and comfort, Spyderco designers add a deep finger choil that jogs the index finger, positioning it on the bottom of the blade directly under the thumb. Placing the index finger in the choil, stops the blade from closing when cutting and allows the user to choke-up closer to the cutting edge with comfort and dexterity. A tension-wire clip positions the folder to carry deeply in a pocket, tip-up and ready for use left or right-handed.
